As a former executive senior physician focussing on the field of plastic/aesthetic surgery as well as reconstructive breast surgery at the Cologne Merheim Campus of the private university Witten/Herdecke, Department for Plastic Surgery, (Prof. Dr. Dr. med. halbil. G. Spilker, Chair for Plastic Aesthetic Surgery), I refuse my patients a predilation of the skin with expanders based on ideals and beliefs. This method requires several operations, excluding small outpatient filling procedures, with corresponding anaesthesia to reach the final result and this represents an increased operation risk for patients. Furthermore, after breast cancer, the skin in this area has undergone prior surgery and is often pre-radiated meaning the quality for the further strains of the subsequent operations in this method is not great. In such cases, a breast construction with autologous tissue XXX presents a very good alternative.
If there is sufficient skin in this area, breast reconstruction can be carried out with implants (breast reconstruction with the silicone pads) in one session.
We will gladly provide you with advice on the most suitable procedure for you as well as on possible complications and risks.
